Hue / Saturation |

Introduction |
In this lesson, we will introduce
you to the process of modifying the
colors in your image. You will use
the “Hue/Saturation” function
to make the adjustments. First you
will learn to assess the colors in
your image; then you will learn how
to change your image as desired. |

Step #1: Select Image |
|
|
We have selected this image of a
cave.
We hope to illustrate how you can
bring out, and exaggerate, the
colors in your image. |

Step #2: Hue/Saturation |
|
|
From the Main menu, click:
[ Enhance ]
From the next menu, click:
[ Adjust Color ]
From the final menu, click:
[ Adjust Hue/Saturation ] |

Step #3:
Hue/Saturation
Main Screen |

|
We now come to the
“Hue/Saturation” main screen.
In the “Edit Window” it
reads:
[ Master ]
This tells us that all color
channels will be affected by
any changes. |

Step #4:
Individual Color Changes |
|
|
If we go to the “Edit Window”
& click the drop down menu, we see
that we can select any color
for individual adjustment. |

|
Step #5:
Assess Red |
|
|
From the “Edit Window”,
select:
[ Red ]
Then move the “Saturation”
slider all the way to the right - to
100%
This shows us how much red
is hidden in the image.
Now we return the “Saturation”
slider to 0% |

Step #6:
Assess Yellow |
|
|
From the “Edit Window”,
select:
[ Yellow ]
Then move the “Saturation”
slider all the way to the right - to
100%
This shows us how much yellow
is hidden in the image.
Now we return the “Saturation”
slider to 0% |

Step #7: Hue
to Right |
|
|
From the “Edit Window”,
select:
[ Master ]
Then move the “Hue” slider to
the right - to +32
This shows us how moving the
“Hue” slider to the right
affects our image.
Now we return the “Hue”
slider to 0% |

Step #8:
Hue To Left |
|
|
From the “Edit Window”,
select:
[ Master ]
Then move the “Hue” slider to
the left - to -22
This shows us how moving the
“Hue” slider to the left affects
our image.
Now we return the “Hue”
slider to 0% |

Step #9:
Adjust Reds |
|
|
From the “Edit Window”,
select:
[ Red ]
We set the “Hue” slider to
-25
We set the “Saturation”
slider to 27% |

Step #10:
Adjust Yellows |
|
|
From the “Edit Window”,
select:
[ Yellow ]
We set the “Hue” slider to
-17
We set the “Saturation”
slider to 40% |

Adjust Master |
|
|
From the “Edit Window”,
select:
[ Master ]
We set the “Saturation”
slider to 40%
We set the “Lightness” slider
to +2 |

Final Image |

When we clicked:
[ OK ]
Now we have our image with the color
changes we made. |
