Lesson 2
Installing The
Program
This program is available as a
download from Adobe, or to purchase
through retail outlets.
The installation process is very
straightforward. However, there are
a couple of important choices to be
made. |
Introduction |
In this lesson we will outline the
entire installation process. We
will discuss the options that must
be selected during this process. |
Step #1: Start Installation |
If you have downloaded the program
from Adobe, double click on the
“Icon” for the installation
program.
If you purchased a retail version of
the program, insert the installation
CD into your computer. |
Step #2: Select
Language |
From the drop down menu, select the
appropriate language. |
Step #3: Legal
Agreement |
The legal agreement will now appear.
You should read this over. If you
wish to use the program, you have to
click on:
[ Accept ] |
Step #4:
Install Elements |
You are now faced with a menu of
choices.
To proceed, click on:
[ Install Adobe Photoshop Elements ] |
Step #5:
Install Wizard |
When the “Install Shield Wizard”
appears, click on:
[ Next ] |
Step #6:
Confirm Language |
Once more we are asked to confirm
our language choice. |
Step #7:
Confirm Legal |
We are again asked to confirm the
legal license conditions for use of
the program. Click on:
[ Accept ] |
Step #8:
Information |
Now the program requires your
personal information.
Enter:
Name:
Organization:
Serial Number:
From media envelope
or
In the email from adobe |
Step #9:
Install Where? |
Most often you will allow the
program to be installed in the
default Windows directory on the “C”
drive.
If you want the program installed in
another location, click on:
[ Change ]
When you are happy with the
installation location, click on:
[ Next ] |
Step #10:
Files To Open |
This is an important step. The file
types that you check here will cause
Elements to open every time you
click on that type of image file.
It can get annoying if every time
you click on an image file, Elements
starts.
We feel that it is better to start
Elements and then open any image you
want in Elements.
Therefore, we recommend that you
click on choice #2:
[ Deselect All ] |
Step #11:
Start Installation |
If you wish to go back and change
any of your choices, this is your
last chance.
You could go back and change the
installation directory or the file
associations.
Otherwise, to proceed, click on:
[ Install ] |
Step #12:
Files Installed |
The installation program will now
carry out the installation. |
Step #13:
Finish |
We must now agree that we are done.
Click on:
[ Finish ] |
Step #14:
Restart |
You are offered the choice of
restarting your computer now, or
later.
Elements cannot work until the
computer has been restarted.
We strongly recommend that you
restart now. Click on:
[ Yes ] |
Step #15:
Welcome
Screen |
When you start the program, you will
be met by the “Welcome Screen”.
There are other configurations for
start up that we feel are more
efficient. We will discuss this in
a future lesson. |
Step #16:
Registration |
When you start the program for the
first time, you will be offered the
opportunity to register the program.
If you choose not to register
immediately, the registration pane
is available from “Help” in
the Main menu. |
