Fixing Photos
Red Eye Correction |
The most important difference
between Album Starter & Album Full
Version relates to fixing images.
The Starter Version only allows
Automatic Fixes.
The Full Version provides Automatic
Fixes with the option of Manual
Override. |

Introduction |
This lesson will deal with how to
correct for “Red Eye” when it
occurs. We will cover how to undo
some of your changes when
corrections don’t go well. |

Step #1: Select a Photo |
|
|
To fix a photo, you have to select
the photo that you want to work on
from the “Photo Well”.
This is done by clicking on the
photo as shown. |

Step #2: Fix |

|
The next step is to use the “Icon
Menu” & click on:
[ Fix ] |

Step #3: Fix

From the drop down menu, select:
[ Fix Photo ] |
 |

Step #4:
Prepare The Image |
|
|
You will now come to the “Fix
Screen”.
You should set up the “Before &
After Views” and rotate the
image if necessary.
You will also have to set the screen
up so you can zoom in & out on your
image. |

Note: Fix Red
Eye |
Often after images are captured by
digital flash photography, we want
to get rid of “Red Eye” where a red
color appears to come from the
pupils of the eyes.
“Red Eye” is a tool that allows us
to do this. |

Depress the button labeled:
[ Red Eye ]
You are now instructed to place your
cursor on any part of the “After”
view and drag your cursor across the
screen to form a box with moving
lines (often called marching
ants). |

Step #6: Fix

Position your
Ants |

|
You can move these “Marching
Ants” box around on the
image
You can resize this box on the image
by grabbing any corner of the white
box with the left mouse button held
down & dragging to the desired size.
As you can see in the panel, we have
used the [ Zoom ] slider at
the bottom to zoom in on the face.
Then we used the [Scroll Bars]
to position the magnified view. |

Apply to 1st

We then positioned the box tight
around the left eye.
Finally – to make our correction and
remove the “Red Eye” we
pressed:
[ Apply ] |

Step #8a: Fix

Repeat for 2nd
Eye |

We then positioned the box tight
around the other eye.
Finally – to make our correction and
remove the “Red Eye” from the
other eye, we pressed:
[ Apply ] |

Red Eye
Finished |

The marching ants have
disappeared, and both eyes are
“Red Eye” free.
You can, of course, “Undo”
your red eye correction if
necessary. |

Reminder: |

You will receive one last reminder
that the changes have been made on a
copy of your original – your
original image remains unchanged. |
