Lesson 4

Getting a Photo

If you have not set up your card reader yet, go to Lesson 3.

If the images that you wish to work on have not been downloaded from your memory card onto your computer, go to Step#1.

If you have already downloaded your images from your memory card, go to Step #5.

Introduction

In this lesson, Steps #1-4 will assist you in downloading your images from the card reader.

Steps #5-10 will help you to isolate the photo that you wish to work on.

Subsequent lessons will show you how to fix, print or email the selected photo.

Step #0

If you have not set up your card reader, go to: Lesson 3 – “How to Set Up your Memory Card”

Step #1

Once your memory card is set up, place your memory card in the card reader.

The Adobe Photo Downloader will begin immediately.

Click on:

[ Get Photos ]

Step #2

The program will then retrieve all the new photos on your memory card

These will be added to the “Photo Well”.

Step #3: No Duplicates

If you tried to download photos that are duplicates of ones that already exist in the “Photo Well”, you will receive the following message.

Step #4: Only New Photos

Your “Photo Well” will now only contain the images that were just downloaded from your memory card.

Step #5: Show All

Now that all your photos are in the computer, you need to find the image that you want to work on

To do this we need to see all of the images.

Click on:

[ Show All ]

Step #6: All Photos in Well

All the images that you have on the computer will now appear in the “Photo Well”.

Step #7: Thumbnail Size

Use the “Thumbnails Views” Slider at the bottom middle of the screen to resize the images in the “Photo Well” as desired.

Step #7a: Small Size

Here we have selected small thumbnails by moving the slider to the left.

We can see many images, but not much detail.

Step #7b: Mid Size

Here we have selected mid-sized thumbnails by moving the slider to the middle of the range.

We see fewer images, but more detail.

Step #7c: Large Size

Here we have selected large thumbnails by moving the slider to the right.

We can see very few images, but the most detail.

Step #8

Use the “Scroll Bar” on the right side of the “Photo Well” to move through all the images in the “Photo Well”.

Step #9

When you find the Photo that you want in the “Photo Well”, click on it.

A yellow box will appear around the image to indicate that you have selected it.

Step #10

Now that you have selected a photo to work on, you can move ahead to Lesson 5 – “Fixing a Photo”

Summary

In this lesson, Steps #1-4 assisted you in downloading your images from the card reader.

Steps #5-9 helped you to isolate the photo that you wish to work on.

Subsequent lessons will show you how to fix, print or email the selected photo.
