Lesson 8

Fixing Photos
Red Eye Repair

When images are captured by a digital camera, the quality of the image often suffers in the digitalization process.

Introduction

In this lesson we will use Adobe Album Starter to make automated image repairs.

We will learn how to remove “Red Eye”.

Step #1: Select a Photo

To fix a photo, you have to select the photo that you want to work on from the “Photo Well”.

This is done by clicking on the photo.

A yellow box will appear around the photo to indicate that it has been selected.

Step #2: Select to Fix

The next step is to use the “Icon Menu” & click on:

[ Fix ]

Step #3: Prepare the Image

You will now come to the “Fix Screen”.

You should set up the “Before & After Views” and rotate the image if necessary.

This was covered in the previous lesson 5
Step #4: Red Eye Tab

Often after images are captured by digital flash photography, you want to get rid of “Red Eye” – the effect in which red color comes from the pupils of the eyes.

“Red Eye” is a tool that allows us to do this.

Press the button labeled:

[ Red Eye ]

You will notice a white square show up at the top of your image.

You can move this white box around on the image by dragging it with the left mouse button held down.

You can resize this white box by grabbing any corner of the white box with the left mouse button held down & dragging it to the desired size.

Once you have placed the white box around the eyes, click on the button:

[ Apply ]

Step #5: Finished Fix

At this point we can still use the “Undo” and “Redo” buttons to go back and forth through our fixes.

When you are happy with everything click:

[ OK ]

Step #6: Final Reminder

You will receive one last reminder that the changes have been made on a copy of your original – your original image remains unchanged.

Click on:

[ OK ]

Step #7: New Edited Photo

The new edited version of your photo will now appear in your “Photo Well”.

Summary

In this lesson we used Adobe Album Starter to make automated image repairs.

We learned how to remove “Red Eye”.
