Lesson 4

Getting a Photo

If you have not set up your card reader yet, go to Lesson 3.

If the images that you wish to work on have not been downloaded from your memory card into your computer yet, go to Step#1.

If you have already downloaded your images from your memory card, go to Step #5.

Introduction

In this lesson, Steps #1-4 will assist you in downloading your images from the card reader.

Steps #5-10 will help you isolate the photo that you wish to work on.

Subsequent lessons will show you how to fix, print or email the selected photo.

Step #0

If you have not set up your card reader, go to Lesson #3 – “How to Set Up your Memory Card”.

Step #1

Once your memory card is set up, place your memory card in the card reader.

The Adobe Photo Downloader will begin immediately.

Click on:

[ Get Photos ]

Step #2

The program will then retrieve all new photos off your memory card

These will be added to the “Photo Well”.

The “Photo Well” is the thumbnail representation of all your images that appears in the centre part of the screen.

Step #3

If you tried to download photos that are duplicates of ones that already exist in the “Photo Well”, you will receive the message shown at right:

Step #4

Your “Photo Well” will now show only the images that were just downloaded from your memory card.

The “Photo Well” has all your images but is only showing the last ones downloaded.

We want to see all of them, so click:

[ OK ]

Step #5

Now that all your photos are in the computer, you need to find the image that you want to work on.
To do this we need to see all of the images.

Click on:

[ Show All ]

Step #6

All the images that you have on the computer will now appear in the “Photo Well”.

Step #7

Use the “Thumbnails Views” buttons at the bottom right corner of the screen to resize the images in the “Photo Well” as desired.

Here we have selected small thumbnails.

You can see many images, but not much detail.

Step #8

Use the “Thumbnails Views” buttons at the bottom right corner of the screen to resize the images in the “Photo Well” as desired.

Here we have selected large thumbnails.

You can see fewer images, but more detail.

Step #9

Use the “Scroll Bar” on the right side of the “Photo Well” to move through all the images in the “Photo Well”.

Step #10

When you find the photo that you want in the “Photo Well”, click on it.

A yellow box will appear around this image to indicate that you have selected this image to work on it.

Step #11

Now that you have selected a photo to work on, you can move ahead to Lesson 5 – “Fix A Photo”.

Conclusion

In this lesson, Steps #1-4 assisted you in downloading your images from the card reader.

Steps #5-10 helped you to isolate the photo that you wish to work on.

Subsequent lessons will show you how to fix, print or email the selected photo.
